Crossfit…preparing you for the unknown?
Last September, along with many other CFNKY’ers, I participated in the Fight Gone Bad IV fundraiser.
KNOWING that it was coming, I looked forward to it for a fair amount of time and came in that day being what I thought was very well “prepared”.
I had dreams of a 300+ score (finally) and felt this was my best shot at it. I raised a good chunk of cash and promised all who donated that I would give it may all.
Not so much.
The workout crushed me and I finished with an all time low score of 238. What the h*ll happened? Diet? Nerves? Too hard too fast? Not really sure. Needless to say I was dejected and embarrassed, feeling like I let everyone down (including myself) and pondered hanging up my CF hat for good.
Then out of the blue coach Lucas throws up FGB on the whiteboard today.
NO! NO! I’m not prepared! This can’t be! I want no part of this. I’m taking my wallball and going home.
Who knows, my “OH SH*T” mechanism must have kicked in, (and a bit of strategy) I ended up pulling a 285 score.
Still not the magical “300”, but much closer.
So, maybe there is something to the whole idea of “Crossfit…preparing you for the unknown” 🙂
Good job Moses !!!
I added 25 since my last FGB. It was killer today but I did 275. Good job everyone at 9AM.
Great story Moses!
Gotta miss this one- the boys come first- Brewer has his first basketball game tonight. I’m sure Coach Lucas will guilt me into making this one up….all by myself!

Great job today everyone! FGB is definitely a tough workout but everyone this morning was giving it their all. Way to go!! As crazy as it sounds, I really miss getting my butt kicked like that. But, I am glad I can still CrossFit with a bun in the oven. And soon enough I’ll have one to add to the CrossFit Kids group!
Good luck tonight Brewer!!

Thanks Lola, Wendy, and Armando!
Good luck at the cert tomorrow Armando. Let me know if you want to borrow my Adidas tent sale shoes…they are good for at least 2 extra pull ups and 3 seconds off your Fran time! 🙂
Represent!!
Nice job everyone! I did not PR tonight. My total was 273 and my PR is 275. Not too far off. Good luck this weekend Armando!!
so, I never post, and Lucas always gives me stuff, so I thought what a better WOD to start with than this one. I have heard nothing good about FGB since the first day of cross fit for me, and it was every bit of hell that everyone said it would be. However, IT felt good to get it done!!!! I didnt have a great score (234), but I’m glad i finally experienced FGB and its gonna be better next time 🙂
