Going to have to try your Travel WOD’s menu. Made an attempt at this one today here in PA at the hotel “fitness center”. Not so much. OH w/ 25lb db’s and burpees…15 minutes and change. There really is nothing to like about the burpee. I did represent w/ my UF t-shirt though!
Searching for the origination of “burpee”- I found this posted at Crossfit L.A.- it’s good for a chuckle
The exercise apparently originated from the prescribed method of planting seeds (Burpee seeds), which was to squat down, push a seed into the fecund earth, then drop the eyes down as close to the seed as possible (hence the bottom of the push up position), and then, if the seed has been well placed, to put a handful of dirt on top of the seed and jump up in the air, landing on the handful of dirt with the bottom of one foot, thus completing the planting. Multiple burpees also produce a rain of moisture (sweat), hydrating the soil and promoting seed growth. The foregoing is complete extrapolation without corroborating evidence, of course, or more commonly known as BS.
