Memorial Day Murph!

When: May 31, 2010 – 10:00 AM and 11:00AM

Why: To honor all American heroes who gave the ultimate to ensure liberty for the rest of us.

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC-ALL ARE WELCOME–

IF YOUR GYM IS CLOSED TODAY, COME WORKOUT WITH US!

Today we workout to say “Thank you” for fighting for us!

In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005. This workout was one of Mike’s favorites and he’d named it “Body Armor”. From here on it will be referred to as “Murph” in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.

Bring your friends to participate.  We will scale Murph to meet your needs and some of you will be working in teams to get the job done.

  • In Crossfit, you know that if you see a workout named after a man, he is a fallen hero and you will be paying your tribute to him with an ass whoopin’ around the gym.
MURPH comes but once a year. Last Memorial Day I did a 1/2 Murph. This year, I am prepared to do my first full-Murph- I hope to complete the workout in an hour.
Let’s all put our best foot forward and press through this workout for a cause!

  • Did Murph today in honor of our fallen heros. Completed in 52:15. Missed having the encouragement from Coach Lucas, but it was a great workout non-the-less.

  • What a fantastic turnout for today’s Murph Challenge!

    I did a 1/2 Murph-
    run 800 meters
    50 pullups
    100 push ups
    150 squats
    run 800 meters
    TIME: 20:25
I look forward to next year when I do the whole thing 🙂

  • The Murph Challenge-
Did it. It’s done. Proud of it.

    Time: 41:25
dropped to my knees on the push ups after about 35 of them- no regrets- all kipping pull ups and two hard-earned hand-rips to go along with it 8)

Those are some great times on Murph, kids! Brew – I’m proud of you for taking on 1/2 Murph. I was scared of it, so I’m glad I was on vacay this weekend!!

Back to real life though – the gym will kick my butt this week I’m afraid.

You guys are AMAZING!!! Just watching you all is huge inspiration! I had a blast, even though I only did 1/2…with a band for pull-ups…and girly push ups…next year it’s on though :)Nonetheless it was an awesome experience!

  • Very impressive work by everyone, it was so encouraging to watch the effort all put into this work out. I managed 1/2 Murph in 30:12, can’t wait to see what I can manage next year doing full!

BTW, used red band for 93 pull-ups but did all push-ups on toes. Thanks CFNKY…I have NEVER run a mile under 7:20 in my life, today I ran that first mile in 6:30something. Didn’t think it was possible 🙂
