Army Physical Fitness Test

  • Sit-ups
  • Push-ups
  • 2-mile run.

Test Sequence The test sequence is the push-up, sit-up, and 2-mile run (or alternate, aerobic event). The order of events cannot be changed. There are no exceptions to this sequence. Soldiers are allowed no less than 10 minutes, but ideally no more than 20 minutes, to recover between each event. Under no circumstances is the APFT valid if a soldier cannot begin and end all three events in two hours or less.

PUSH-UPS (2 minutes) Push-ups measure the endurance of the chest, shoulder, and triceps muscles. Click here for Push-up Standards.

SIT-UPS (2 minutes)This event measures the endurance of the abdominal and hip-flexor muscles. Click here for Sit-up Standards.

TWO-MILE RUN This event tests cardiorespiratory (aerobic) endurance and the endurance of the leg muscles. Click here for 2-mile Run Standards.

    I made it! However, I did review the height and weight requirements and I’ve got a couple pounds to lose before the recruiter comes knockin’……..fun Friday WOD!

  • I was lazy this morning and didn’t get up, but I do want to do this WOD! I don’t know if I can do 10 real push ups, but I am going to try! If I don’t do it today, then I’ll make it up tomorrow!

    This was tougher than it looks on the board…but what WOD isn’t? You think I would have figured that out by now. Great job by everyone today!

  • Ok! I did the push-ups and sit-ups I’ll have to redo the whole thing with the run, but I did do something!

    Push-ups: 20 (no knees! That is a record for me!) = 64
    Sit-ups: 43 (Army style, arms crossed over chest) = 58

    I dread that run! I’ve NEVER done a 2 mile run!

    I suffer a cramp in my left calf….but I was on my way to the low 13 min. By the end of the second lap my time was 9 min… next time, next time!!!!!
