Share the Pain week!

There are only a few days left before our very own, Kim Luber, heads west in an attempt to become the “Fittest on Earth” at the 2011 Crossfit Games in California!!!!

We are so proud of, and inspired by, Kim’s dedication to crossfit and loyalty to the NKY.  Go get ’em girl, everyone has full confidence in you!

This week’s wods will come directly from the Masters Competition.  At the NKY, no one goes at it alone so we will all experience the pain and love that Kim will take on this weekend… ….pain of the wod and love of the sport!   Are you ready for Masters wod #1?

  • GOOD LUCK KIM!! There are some good workouts on the horizon for this week. I will definitely share the love(and pain) for the sport with you this week.

  • Can’t wait to get in there tonight!! Love to go thru the fire with ya Kim! Good luck to you!!!

  • Liz – you did great with this WOD (as per usual)! I scaled the OHS weight to 55#, and came in at 7:37 (i think). Maddie, I’m proud of you for dragging your butt out of bed so early in the morning and doing this WOD – that takes some dedication, girl! Great job.

Kim – we’re all pulling for you and sharing the love. All good vibes headed your way!

  • Oh Kim I wish I could be there to cheer on my 9am workout buddy! I came in at 8:21, 65# this morning. Those push-up releases are not getting easier.

  • Good Luck Kim, you’ll do awesome!
6:17 for me today, big class at 4:30 and everybody was killing it!

  • Sucks I had to miss this one! Stuck studying for my radiology exam tomorrow…blah. Hope everyone had fun! See you all tomorrow!!

  • WOD 1- OHS, Hand Release Push Ups, Shuttle Run
    9:10(?) RX’d
Completely overestimated my ability to easily OHS 65#. Not sure why I thought that would be light-weight, but I did them and they were fine. Just heavier than expected.
Hand release push ups really slow me down and definitely an area I am working on.

    Wod 2- 15min AMRAP 5 pull ups, 10 push ups, 15 squats
Lost my vest virginity and donned the 10# vest tonight after Drew’s suggestion.
    Ugh.
Guess I will be wearing this more often and looks like I need to stop being such a baby with my pull ups. I did just as many in a row as I do without vest so something is wrong.

Good Luck to Kim who is a straight badass!!! Once upon a time, Kim gave me the best piece of advice and I rely on her advice to keep me from crying during daily WODs. She said, “Focus on the task at hand”. I don’t know why, but that was the most refreshing and rational thing I had ever heard. Now, when I’m so frustrated with something, I focus on the task at hand…hence me continuously repeating numbers during WODs. So thank you Kim for teaching me to focus on the task and helping me build my mental strength.

And in conclusion, I have successfully made it to DAY 8!!! Today is the first day I feel great and am happy with my decision to quit. It absolutely feels worth it now. Thank you to everyone for your support and my deepest apologies to anyone I may have been a cranky bitch to. Love ya fam!

    THE END.

  • I did Lynn tonight. 5rds of max bench press body weight (155#) and max pull ups. Managed a total of 22 bench press and 122 pull-ups.
    Great job to everyone tonight.
Keep up the hard work Rachel, it ill pay off!
Also, good luck and best wishes to Kim as she kicks butt in the crossfit games. You truly are a great inspiration and it is always great doing a WOD with you!

  • Kim Luber WOD #1: 8:16 RX. Almost fell on my first OHS, but managed to stay up and keep going, so that was good.
Cool Down/Skill Work: 5 rounds 10 GHD, 10 wall-squats, 5 pull-ups (trying to practice but save my hands).

I know that Kim is going to crush it at the games. She’s dedicated, competitive, and has been working so hard. All I know, is that Kim keeps us honest with our reps and our ROM with a smile on her face. She’s down to earth and I think we’re so lucky to have her as part of our family!
And Rachel…keep killing it! You’re doing so great!

  • Good luck Kim! You don’t need luck though, you have all the fortitude and stamina you need to do whatever is asked of you in California!! You are a warrior-ess and a constant source of inspiration and motivation to the rest of us. I’ll be watching online and rooting for you!!

  • Loved this workout!! Finished 5:31 Rx’d but I think my time would have been better had Lucas been paying attention! I think he went off to smoke some of Rachel’s old cigarettes when i hollared at him for my last round 🙂 Anyway i’m happy with 5:31 no doubt. Good luck to you Kim!

  • Scaled this one down quite a bit so I could get through it with a my back still acting up. Do like this one, although I have no idea what my time was. 😉

Kim L.! You are a rock star and I know you will shine in Cali this weekend! I will be looking for you on the live stream. Julie is right, you are a huge inspiration! Best of luck!!!

  • Glad to be back… scaled to knee pushups and 45lbs. Not sure what my time was because I was distracted tending to the bleeding wound on my shin. But no amputation will be necessary and I will see everyone on Wednesday. 🙂

  • I finished in 7 something on this one. It was a good work out and I was glad to actually be able to do overhead squats even though I had to scale down a bit. Good job 6:30 class! Good luck this weekend Kim! I won’t get to see you before you go, but I know you are gonna do great and I can’t wait to read, watch and hear all about it!!
