Happy Veterans day to Lucas and to anyone else at CFNKY that served!
Happy Veterans Day!!!
Thanks to all our veterans for your service!!
We got to peruse the Hero wod’s list and chose “The Seven” WOD in honor of 7 CIA officers killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan.
7 Rounds for Time:
7 HSPU (2ab mats)
7 Thrusters 80#
7 Deadlift 155#
7 KB Swings 35#
7 Pullups (Purple Band)
32:00, the sweat and pain was a privilege.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Thank you. to my grandfathers, to my cousins, to my friends.
Armando…you doing opt challenge?
Nice Jarrett, thank you.
I won’t be doing the hero WOD today, unless you count tackling the toy store to start Christmas shopping for the grands tonight…
However, I do thank all those I know who have served (grandfather WWII and Korea vet, husband, father-in-law, brother, cousins, friends) or are serving (nephews), and all those I don’t know. Thank you!
Sorry I didn’t join you all for the hero WOD today. I’m pretty stupid though I’ll end up trying to do both tomorrow. I am thankful for the privilege to be a veteran. Two of my favorite quotes about this:
We sleep safely in our beds because rough men stand ready
in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm.
— George Orwell
“Some one once told me the definition of Hell: The last day you have on earth, the person you became will meet the person you could have become.”
Armando Delgado Today I honored the Puerto Rican 65TH Infantry with my Hero WOD
5 Rounds of:
25 double under
20 over head squat 95#
15 box jumps 24″
5 kettlebell snatch 53#
Great hero wod tonight – I did “the sevens.” Mine was mostly modified (box hspu, 65# thrusters, 110# DL, 35# KB swings). But the part I didn’t modify, and am so proud of: ZERO band for pull-ups 🙂 So excited! Time 34:22.
I did “Jerry” (1 mile run, 2k row, 1 mile run) in 31:29. It was kind of lonely running out there by myself. 🙂
i will call this one FILTHY 7 hahah. WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN.
Ran short on time today……completed 4 rounds of the “7’s” before bolting out to flag football practice….
HSPU with 2 mats
185#, then 175# DL
funny how all wods are different- today burpees and pullups were a piece of cake!
I know how I felt after 4 rounds, congrats to all of you who pushed thru for the heroes! What a day at CrossfitNKY.
BTW- if you are FB friends with the group Crossfit, today they asked-“what are you thinking right before 3,2,1,go” there’s a lot of comments but they are worth a quick look if you are surfing tonight.
Today reminded me just how much I am thankful for and love CrossFit. The afternoon classes were full of people ready to kick a$$. It was some of the ugliest stuff I have ever seen, but at the same time beautiful. Yes I just used that word to describe the gym and what goes on inside. On days like today people come in knowing they are going to get their sh!t messed up, but they are excited and fight through to the end no matter how much it hurts. Great job today everyone!!
Happy Veterans Day to all the great people who have served our country!!
It was not pretty….
HSPU started with one mat and ended with two
thrusters started with 95 then quickly to 85 then quickly to 75 where I finished
I think it was 43:10 maybe I need to confirm that with Emily
I agree with Wendy I would never have thought in a million years I would ever be excited or catch a break on Burpees and pull-ups.
Did Jerry because all of the weights were being used for other 7s people. Felt really strong through the whole thing. 24 something.
