We are not your typical gym. It’s actually not a gym at all, it’s a training facility. People come here to train….hard. The training here is programmed and monitored. Each training session has a purpose and developmental goal behind it. There are no “chest days” or “arm days” in our training. Every workout will work the body as it is meant to be worked, as one functioning unit. The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs. The CrossFit program is by design, very broad and general.
Our specialty is in NOT SPECIALIZING. Combat, sports, nature and life in general tend to reward our type of generalized, elite fitness, and punish the specialists. To get started, all you have to do is call or stop by CrossfitNKY. We’ll discuss the CrossFit principles, learn a few exercises and get a quick workout in. Oh, and don’t worry, there aren’t any sales people here to pressure you. In fact, leave your checkbook at home. Your first session is free. All we ask is that you have an open mind about what you experience, are motivated to change, and that you ask a lot of questions!
Your First Free Session
Your trainer will ask you about your exercise history, medical history, special interests and concerns. You’ll start learning how to do the basic movements our drills are built on, and we’ll give you a workout.
Your first workout might include three sets of exercises such as unweighted squats, light medicine-ball throws, rowing, and/or basic barbell or dumbbell lifts. Later workouts might include push-ups, pull-ups, jumping, 400-meter runs, and/or more advanced and rapid free-weight drills. We have an ever-growing repertoire of new and old exercises, combined in ever-changing ways, and always tailored to suit your abilities.
Many of our favorite exercises are not used in mainstream fitness programs. If they are, it is usually not with the intensity that provides cardio and strength training together. Besides providing this efficiency benefit, our trainers combine these and many other exercises in endless variety.
Intensity and speed mean different things to different people. Every person can be surprised by what he or she is capable of with the excellent training our coaches provide.
