4th Annual Memorial Day “MURPH”
Come join us for a Hero Wod to honor those who have fallen in the line of duty. Our doors will open at 9:00 a.m. on Monday morning for Murph. Also, most of you know that our very own Mark Nichols is in the Kentucky Army National Guard. His Unit will deploy to Afghanistan at the beginning of June. This will be his last workout with us until next Spring or Summer!! Don’t miss Murph and your last chance to work out with one of our country’s finest. AND…. there will be beer, cake and snacks waiting for you at the finish line!!! (everyone welcome)
“Murph”
For time:
1 mile Run
100 Pull-ups
200 Push-ups
300 Squats
1 mile Run
In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.
This workout was one of Mike’s favorites and he’d named it “Body Armor”. From here on it will be referred to as “Murph” in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.
Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. Start and finish with a mile run. If you’ve got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear it.
Post time to comments.
Great crowd and a better JOB by all my fellows crossfitters…so proud of all you guys!!!
Mark this one was for you my friend…be safe and I’ll see you later!!!!
Time 45:26 w/20# vest a 6:34 min (PR) !!!!
whew hot one! 47 something . Not as good as last year but just glad to finish in one piece! Thanks to everyone for helping me give Mark a good send off.
Thanks for the send off and the well-wishes from all.
1HR and 15 seconds, about 5 minutes worse than last year.
See you guys next year (I should be back in time for Memorial Day Murph). Hopefully I’ll go to a base at 7000′ and my blood will still be packing extra oxygen (the squats and 2nd run might not kill me).
Great work by everyone that completed Murph today. Some really good times were posted. Thanks to everyone that brought food and drinks. Those ice tubs were really nice. It was nice of Armando to climb in with me and hold my hand. I didn’t realize he was doing it at the time. 🙂 My time was 49:45, which is a PR for me by about 5 minutes.
53:35, 4 minutes better than last year with red band. Some truly inspiring performances in the heat and humidity. Take care Mark, we will see you in 10 months!
1:06 for me with 10# vest…I’ve been paying for it the past couple days maybe I will make it in tomorrow.
Stacy, I’m like you…I’ve been paying for it and I didn’t even wear a vest! Next time I am going to man/woman up and put the vest on 😉
Time- 36:40 (PR since this is the first time I’ve tried it)
